Sir: Much controversy exists regarding the definition of Asperger’s syndrome or disorder, both in clinical practice and in research studies. Furthermore, there is not yet agreement that Asperger’s disorder is indeed a mental disorder requiring longterm support from mental health services. However, it is becoming an increasingly prevalent concept that is applied loosely to a variety of a mental disorders ranging from schizophrenia to personality disorders.
