Article Abstract

Letter to the Editor

Sir: Dr. Schlozman, in the December 1998 issue of the Journal, report 2 cases of upper-extremity self-amputation. Published reports, reviewed in his article, mostly date from the 1970s or 1980s. In recent years, the progress in psychiatric and surgical care may have changed the incidence and outcome of this rare complication of psychosis.
