JCP’s New Look

Marlene P. Freeman, MD

Published: June 5, 2023

As we prepare to celebrate the 85th anniversary of The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry next year, we are marking the occasion with a fresh new look. In fact, the updates extend to each component of Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc., the independent publisher of JCP, including The Primary Care Companion for CNS Disorders and the CME Institute. The print journal and our website, Psychiatrist.com, have been refreshed in terms of aesthetics, but, more importantly, there is also a behind-the-scenes focus on improved communication and usability. JCP’s modernized look is accompanied by efforts to integrate the print and online features into a seamless product and experience.

As the Journal’s team has expanded recently, I think of a merging of “old” and “new” guardians. We remain steadfast in our dedication to quality and service to the field. We are committed to the tenets of excellence in our scientific rigor and core identity. And, as always, we strive to deliver the most clinically impactful original research and reviews.

In addition, JCP’s relationship with the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology (ASCP) is an important affiliation that we continue to build upon.

But we also look forward to intentional growth and evolution. The learning preferences of clinical researchers, health care providers, and the public are changing, and we intend to meet this challenge with dynamic efforts. For example, in May, we launched Five Minute Pearls, short video segments accessible on our website that provide clinically relevant, timely information from experts. Combined, these offerings will expand our reach in terms of communication and interaction online.

We hope that our readers like the new looks of the print journal and the website. More importantly, we hope you find the content meaningful for the work that you do in addressing psychiatric disorders and improving the quality of the lives of patients and their families.

As always, we are grateful to our authors, section editors, editorial board members, and peer reviewers. We know that the work we do impacts clinical practice, and that responsibility is always at the forefront of our minds.
