Erotomanic Delusions Focused on a Child

Gary J. Remington

Article Abstract

Letter to the Editor

Sir: Erotomania is currently classified as a subtype of delusional
disorder in DSM-IV and is characterized by a perceived
relationship focused more on idealized romantic love and a
spiritual union than sexual attraction.1 Onset generally occurs
during early adulthood, and the patient routinely believes that
the other person wants to marry him or her. The present case is
both striking and unique in that the focus of erotomanic delusions
was a child.
