The Early Career Psychiatrists section articles in this month’s Journal represent important areas in our field that deserve focused research, clinical, and educational efforts.

In addition to the 3 excellent articles in this section, I would like to draw attention to Dr. Joseph Goldberg’s editorial on the challenges currently facing those who select a career in academic psychiatry. As Dr. Goldberg discusses, our field may face a critical crisis of loss of talent and meaningful research due to the acute pressures regarding funding.’ ‹
