Measuring Efficacy of Polypharmacy in Schizophrenic Inpatients

Jean-Pierre Lindenmayer, MD

Published: August 16, 2004

Article Abstract

Because this piece does not have an abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

Sir: McCue et al.1 compare a number of indirect parameters assessing the effectiveness of polypharmacy in the treatment of acutely ill inpatients with schizophrenia. While we all welcome data that would support the safety and rationality of polypharmacy in schizophrenia treatment, the data the authors present are difficult to interpret. Their study carries some methodological flaws and uses a number of indirect parameters that most likely have alternative explanations.
