Article Abstract

From our regular book review column.

The diagnosis and management of psychiatric syndromes in long-term care facilities is often demanding, difficult, and time consuming. A basic understanding of psychiatric syndromes in the long-term care facility is needed, because a majority of nursing home residents have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder, which is often a dementia or depression complicated by multiple medical conditions. Practical Psychiatry in the Long-Term Care Facility is an outstanding manual written for staff education and training.
